Chris Baelus graduated as an industrial designer (master in product development) from the NHIBS / Henry van de Velde Institute in 1981. After having worked as an independent designer for several years, he resolutely opted for education and research in product development. He is associated with the Faculty of Design Sciences and has therefore had the privilege, together with an exceptional team of colleagues and guest lecturers, to supervise 37 graduation years in product development. When design and innovation become a passion and you can share this passion with the new generation of product developers, you hope that their vision, approach and achievements will also make a difference. The Henry van de Velde Award is a recognition for their work and contributes to the promotion of design as an accelerator for social, economic and sustainable innovation.
