From her background in Art (KU Leuven) and Journalism (Vlekho) Elien Haentjens (°1983, lives and works in Brussels) has been working as a freelance journalist in the fields of design, art and business since 2006. Since 2013 she implements this knowledge in exhibitions on Belgian design, which she curates and organises mainly in Brazil. The collection of authentic, handmade objects by Joias was the result of these cultural projects. Within this context, Elien Haentjens brings together craftsmen and designers from all over the world. This way she connects people, their stories and their cultural traditions through Joias. She also curates the Belgian part of the Danish web platform Adorno and teaches at KASK in Ghent.
